Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Testing
At South Keys Health Center, Tuberculosis (TB) skin testing is offered as a clinically approved method for screening TB infection. TB testing is an important medical service, particularly for individuals with increased risk due to occupational exposure, travel history, or certain medical conditions. Early identification of TB infection supports timely medical intervention and helps reduce the risk of transmission.
The TB skin test is performed by administering a small amount of testing solution just beneath the surface of the skin, most commonly on the forearm. The procedure is brief and generally well tolerated. Patients are required to return within 48 to 72 hours so that a healthcare professional can examine the test site and determine the result based on standardized clinical criteria.
Test results are reviewed by qualified healthcare providers trained in TB screening and interpretation. If the result suggests possible TB infection, further medical evaluation may be required. This may include additional diagnostic testing or referral to a specialist for further assessment and management.
