Annual Fee and Uninsured Services
We are fortunate in this country to have access to quality healthcare funded by the Ministry of Health through our taxes. However, as our population ages, the cost of healthcare continues to rise, leading to an increasing number of services that are not covered by the Ministry. In recent years, the demand for these uninsured services has grown exponentially. Due to rising office expenses and government restrictions, we can no longer provide these services free of charge.
As a result, the payment for these services has become the responsibility of the patient or the agency requesting the service. While you may choose to pay for individual uninsured services on a “pay-per-service” basis, we recommend considering our Annual Fee Plan, often referred to as a “block fee.”
To sign up for this plan, please visit our website at www.southkeyshealth.com or complete the attached registration form and submit it along with the payment to our office. Payment can be made using Visa, Mastercard, debit card, cheque, or cash.
There are several time-consuming uninsured services for which OHIP does not compensate physicians. Here are some examples of commonly requested services and their associated fees: prescription renewals without an office visit ($35/renewal), sick notes/return to work letters ($35), medical letters to insurance companies or lawyers ($100+), and psychological services ($35), among others.
Please review the enclosed list of uninsured services for more details.
If your financial circumstances make it difficult to pay for an uninsured service, you may request an exemption.
